CCTV Drain Surveys

It is not usual for drainage systems to block under normal use. In general the pipe work underground is installed in such a way that it slopes all the way from your house all the way to the local sewerage treatment plant. The most difficult part of this journey is around the trap (or “S” bend) as it is commonly known. Once the discharge has negotiated this section, the rest of the journey is a formality. Just sliding down the hill till it arrives.
If a blockage occurs you may be just unlucky. If it happens twice you are very unlucky. A third time almost certainly indicates some kind of damage to the pipe work. This can result from a number of fairly usual occurrences. Ground movement, root ingress and faulty installation are the most common.
